"I'm not saying they're wrong to be suspicious. I'm simply saying that it's premature for us newcomers to worry about their intentions just yet. It might create unnecessary tension."
A pause.
"They could have just thrown us back in the wasteland and leave us to die instead of taking us on board. Instead, they've given us food and shelter. I think that implies that we're needed for something if they're willing to dispense with their resources to this degree."
