Oh, Huaisang hurts all over. He's going to be feeling this beating for several days, at least. But it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. So long as they take care not to antagonize Lan Wangji too much they should be fine, he thinks.

"It'll be all right now, I think," he says softly, closing his eyes as he gently strokes the other teen's hair. "Old Man Lan doesn't know anything and if Lan-xiong was going to tell him anything, he would've done so then. But it'd be best if we didn't push him too much, at least for a while."
